This is a depiction of Jay Cheatham's gas station/garage circa 1959 in Sunnyvale, California. Jay was the World Record Holder for A/gas, unblown, 9.40 ET 150.50 MPH. He was killed at the first March Meet in Bakersfield, California in 1959 racing in the Pearson Old's Special dragster which he had built and owned. He was 34 years old. Six of the vehicles in the painting belonged to Jay.

I have had creative energy all of my life and have expressed it in many different venues. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area but it was after living on the beautiful island of Kauai for a couple of years that I was inspired to start painting. Kauai, the island, the people, the lifestyle changed me forever. I took a few private art lessons and was told by my instructor to "just keep painting" and so I have. I am proud to be a self-taught artist--I have developed my own personal style and technique, painting primarily with oils and acrylics.
