I have been going to Indian Ladder Farms since I was a child and often visit when I am vacationing in upstate NY. They now have much more to offer than when I was a kid – a café, brewery, farm store, trails, and petting zoo to name a few. The PYO apple season is fantastic as is the pick your own berries. I visited in July when the raspberries were ready and some pickers were in the field. The beautiful scenery is like the icing on a cake and only adds to an already wonderful family friendly place.

As a young girl Barbara would visit a secluded site in the woods neighboring her upstate New York home to observe and sketch birds in their natural habitat. She attended the State University of New York at New Paltz and the University of New York at Albany. At New Paltz, Barbara studied under George Wexler and Sheldon Schoenberg whom she credits with teaching her the fundamentals of drawing (Prof Schoenberg told his students if they couldn’t learn to “see” they would never be artists.)
